Open TrueCut, go to Settings → Restore Purchases and tap the button. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID you used when you originally purchased the Full Unlock. The restore connects to the App Store and re-activates your unlock immediately.

If you transfer to a new iPhone via iCloud backup or Finder/iTunes, the Full Unlock typically restores automatically when you sign in with your Apple ID — no manual step needed.

Family Sharing is enabled on the Full Unlock: if someone in your Family Sharing group purchased it, sign in with your Apple ID and restore purchases to receive access.

This is almost always resolved by a restore:

1. Open TrueCut and go to Settings → Restore Purchases.
2. Wait a moment for the App Store to respond. The app should unlock immediately.
3. If that does not work, force-quit TrueCut and reopen it, then try again.

If you are still seeing the locked state after restoring, please email us at gabrieljohnfordan@gmail.com with your Apple ID (the email address, not the password) and the approximate date of purchase, and we will sort it out.

For a refund request, use Apple's Report a Problem page — Apple processes all App Store refunds; we do not handle payments directly.

After your trial expires, the following remain available forever at no charge:

• Basic feet-inch-fraction calculator — all arithmetic, unit conversions, memory slots, and the tape
• Full baluster spacing solver — complete with the top-view diagram and first-mark measurement, shareable as a watermarked cut sheet
• All cut sheets and estimates you created during the trial — fully viewable and exportable (with a watermark). Nothing disappears.

The five trade studios (Rafter, Stair, Deck & Baluster joist layout, Crown & Miter, and Materials) become read-only teasers: you can see the diagram and sample output, but Solve is gated until you unlock. The Full Unlock is $24.99, one time — no subscription.

Yes. Family Sharing is enabled on the Full Unlock. If your household uses Apple Family Sharing, any family member can download TrueCut and receive the Full Unlock through the shared purchase — no second payment needed.

To activate: each family member downloads TrueCut, opens it, goes to Settings → Restore Purchases, and the Family Sharing entitlement is applied automatically.

Note: the free 14-day trial IAP is intentionally excluded from Family Sharing to keep trial clocks independent between family members.

No. The public commitment, verbatim: "One-time purchase. No subscriptions. Ever." The Full Unlock covers all v1.0 features and every v1.x roadmap item listed in our feature plan (richer rafter and stair functions, voice entry, saved projects, additional language support, and any gaps that surface from a function-by-function audit). Optional future expansions — for example, add-on hardware-integration packs — will be one-time purchases, never subscriptions.

Code-limit presets are collections of stair and baluster reference values that match commonly used building standards. TrueCut ships with five presets:

• IRC Residential (US) — 7-3/4" max riser height, 10" min tread depth, 4" sphere max baluster gap
• IBC Commercial (US) — 7" max riser, 11" min tread, 4" sphere max gap
• Canada NBC — 200 mm max riser, 255 mm min tread, 100 mm max gap
• Australia NCC — 190 mm max riser, 240 mm min tread, 125 mm max gap
• UK Approved Document K — 220 mm max riser, 220 mm min tread, 100 mm max gap

The active preset is shown by name on screen in Stair Studio and Baluster solver. A "modified from preset" indicator appears if you have edited any value away from the preset default. Important: these are reference checks to help you work within your configured limits — they are not compliance rulings. Always verify against the current code edition and local amendments for your jurisdiction before cutting.

Yes. Every preset value is fully editable. Go to Settings → Code Limit Preset, select your base preset, and tap any value to edit it. A "modified from preset" dot appears next to the preset name on-screen so you always know you are working from a customized set. To reset a value back to the preset default, tap the field and use the reset button.

If you are in a jurisdiction not covered by the five presets, start from the closest preset and edit the values to match your local code.

No. The limits badge is a reference check against the values in your active preset — it is not a compliance ruling or a legal determination. "Outside limits" means the current solve falls outside the values you have configured, which might indicate an issue worth reviewing, or it might be intentional (deck stairs and exterior runs often have different requirements than interior residential stairs, and local amendments override the base codes in every jurisdiction).

Always verify your stair design against the current edition of the applicable code and any local amendments, and confirm against field conditions before cutting. The disclaimer on every cut sheet says exactly this.

The badge uses a four-state system: green (within limits), amber (within 1/4" of a limit — worth a second look), red (outside limits), and grey (no solution fits in the available run at all).

Tap the Cut Sheet button at the bottom of any studio after a successful solve. The app generates a PDF, then use the standard iOS share sheet to AirDrop, send via Messages, email, save to Files — anywhere iOS can share.

Cut sheets include the dimensioned diagram, the calculation table, your active preset name, and a disclaimer line. Every cut sheet carries a Made with TrueCut footer; free-tier and lapsed-trial exports add a full-bleed watermark.

Watermarks appear on exports made from the free tier or after a trial has expired. To remove the watermark, unlock TrueCut with a one-time $24.99 purchase via Settings → Unlock TrueCut. After unlocking, all new cut-sheet exports are watermark-free. Previously exported watermarked files are not automatically updated, but you can re-export any saved calculation from the app.

The baluster spacing solver's cut sheet export is always full-featured with only a small Made with TrueCut footer — not a watermark — even without a purchase.

Cut sheets and estimates are stored on your device and persist indefinitely — they do not expire, even after your trial ends. To find a previous calculation:

• The tape on the main keypad screen shows recent calculations — tap any line to restore it, then re-export.
• Estimates are accessible from the Materials Studio estimate bar at the bottom — tap it to see your saved estimate list.

If you uninstalled the app, on-device data would have been erased. Calculations and estimates are stored on your device only — they are not backed up to iCloud. (The only data TrueCut writes to iCloud is your trial start date, which is used solely to track your 14-day trial period.) To preserve calculations across reinstalls, export cut sheets as PDFs to Files or your Photos library before removing the app.

PDF cut sheets always render in the standard light-mode diagram style (white background, ink line work, orange title rule) regardless of whether your device is in dark mode or Site Mode. This is intentional — cut sheets are documents that need to read clearly when printed or viewed on any screen, and print-friendly formatting requires the light layout. The values on the PDF are always byte-identical to the values shown on screen.

If you see a value on the PDF that differs from what was shown in the app, please email us — that would be a bug worth investigating immediately.

Site Mode is a high-contrast, large-text mode designed for outdoor use in bright sunlight. It switches the entire app to pure black on white, increases key sizes to 64 pt, bumps all text and diagram dimensions by 25%, and collapses the tape to a single result line to reduce clutter.

To turn it on: tap the floating Studio button (orange circle, bottom-right), then toggle Site Mode in the bottom row of the Studio sheet. There is also a Site Mode slot in the bottom bar of the main screen. The setting persists across sessions.

TrueCut may occasionally suggest Site Mode via a brief banner when your screen brightness has been high for several seconds (a proxy for direct sunlight). You can dismiss the banner, and it will not appear again during that session. The auto-suggest can be turned off entirely in Settings.

Go to Settings (accessible from the top of the main keypad screen or from any Studio). You can set:

• Fraction resolution — 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, or 1/64. All on-screen values, cut sheets, and tape entries round to this resolution.
• Default units — feet-inch-fraction, decimal feet, decimal inches, yards, or metric (m, cm, mm).
• Code-limit preset — your region's stair and baluster reference values.

Unit conversion is also available instantly on the answer line: tap the unit chip (e.g., "ft-in") and select the target unit from the menu.

Yes, several ways:

• Shake the phone to undo the last action — this works like a standard iOS undo gesture.
• Swipe left on the expression line to backspace one character at a time.
• Tap the tape — the tape above the keypad shows your calculation history. Tap any prior line to restore it to the expression.
• Long-press any tape line to edit it in place.

TrueCut's calculation engine is backed by an extensive suite of golden-test cases checked against first-principles math and published rafter and stair tables, but errors can always occur. If you believe TrueCut is producing a wrong answer:

1. Note the exact inputs you used (total rise, run, pitch, etc.) and the result shown.
2. Cross-check against a published reference — a rafter table, stair calculator, or framing square layout.
3. Email us the inputs and the expected vs. actual result. A math accuracy report is the highest-priority issue we address — we will investigate every one.

Always verify reference calculations against field conditions before cutting. This applies to TrueCut and every other construction calculator.
